Hello. My name is Alan Kepler. Through the lens of my cameras, I endeavor to be our personal witness to the simple grandeur of creation and the miracles that surround us in the natural world. These photographic images capture the magic of the wilderness, pure and un-enhanced by any contemporary technological gimmickry. In fact, I never use color filters to enhance the images or modify them to be more than what I witnessed at the moment the shutter was snapped. In the Lab or photo editing software, it is important to express or interpret what was captured, in a creative yet naturalistic way.

Ansel Adams wrote "Many consider my photographs to be in the "realistic" category. Actually, what reality they have is in their optical-image accuracy, their values are definitely "departures from reality." The viewer may accept them as realistic because the visual effect may be plausible, but if it were possible to make direct visual comparison with the subjects, the differences would be startling."

From the beginning, my interest in the landscape photography has been driven by seeking the highest possible detail and resolution for the final print. Therefore, my cameras of choice are the medium format Pentax 67 II and the large format Toyo Field 45AX. Certain situations require the use my Canon 21 megapixel full frame camera. As you enjoy the images feel free to contact me with any questions.
